Default performance parts for gas miles

my wifes car is a 01 neon se or something like that,
its a 2.0 with a 3speed auto,
she's gonna start going to a different skool in a few weeks and
its 100miles round trip and she has to make the drive 5 times a week
the car already gets good gas mileage but u can always make it better

so far i have a K&N intake system for it and thats it,
i was thinking about maybe headers and a exhaust,
just something to help it flow better witch should help out with the gas

if i could bump the car up 3-5mpg that would be sweet, and in the long run save me a few $$ on gas

i saw some headers on ebay for $140

not sure wut type of exhaust i should get for this thing, i don't want it to be loud i just want it to flow better then stock

wut else should i look into getting to bump up the mpg?
its gonna be my wife driving the car so i know with the parts i have in mind, it will bump up the horse power also but since she's a girl she won't try and hot rod it, just drive it reg so i'll get the mpg out of the parts

laters

For good gas mileage the stock exhaust is perfect. I wouldn't suggest modding it until she is done with school because anything you do to it will drop the GPM.

An intake will give you better gas mileage, other than that any other "performance" upgrade will probally drop MPG.

Upgrading the Ignition system with a better coil pack and wires for better spark. If it burns more efficently MPG should go up a little.

An upgraded coil pack is nothing more than a stock coil pack. The only difference is that he so called "performance" coil pack is red. You'd be wasting you money on a coil pack. Especially if your current coil pack is not bad.

yeah, a header with an exhaust system would help out as long as she didn't let the new sound influence her driving. You need to meet some of my girlfriends, girls are just as if not more suceptible to "hotrodding" as you put it, you should talk to The Lady in Red.
