AF/X or Mopar?????? PLEASE HELP
Hello Again,
When i first got my neon i was told to buy a Mopar aftermarket ecu i read up on them and it said i could get approx 9 to 20 extra horses BUT then from another friend of mine he said AF/X ecu programs itself to ur car to the teeth to deliver maximum performance i read up on the afx at howellautomotive.com and it reaaaally caught my eye the mopar didnt have much information on it which i read up onat moderperformance.com
i would really like more professional opinions because the price range of the two is a lil drastic for my pocket LOL AFX = 540 Mopar = 220
Thanks Alot Guyz / Girlz

Considering what you get from each ecu, I am still using the mopar. In reality, few are making power to really make use of either pcm. a sohc power band taps out around 6800, and the dohc tops out around 7300. The mopar pcm redlines at 7800 (the newer mods redline at 7600) and the AF/x redlines at 7600 (street) and 8100 (race). All application really require cams to be put to full use. I say mopar, as the extra $340 can be better used elsewhere.
I had the AFX race pcm for a while on my 2000 Neon. I just sold it recently and shipped it off. It's a great product. It's very expensive but it's better than the Mopar. With the mods that were on my car, I believe it turned the check engine light off. I'm not 100% sure though.
I have seen a dyno comparison and there was a slight HP advantage to the AF/x, but I don't think it was worth the money for the difference. Of course the car that they were dynoed on did not have a header installed and the AF/x is tuned for a header.
