Default DIY Turbo

I'm wanting to put a small turbo on my 2003 SOHC Neon. I was thinking about just a small 14b turbo but I don't have the money to buy a $4,500 kit. So I figured I'd get some DIY advice. I can find the exhaust manifold and the turbo. What else will I need. I know I'll have to get injectors, fuel pump, oil/water lines. Is there anything else? And secondly is this a good idea or should I stick to other types of upgrades before a turbo. Thanks for your help

if your sticking with stock internals, dont boost more than 8-10 psi. anything over 10 and your definately looking at engine damage.

im not sure how much you are paying for your turbo and exhaust manifold but to get the parts you need separately will probably cost about the same as the hahncraft turbo kit. get a moroso oil pan that holds six quarts of oil and has a stronger housing than stock pan and flows oil better. tap your turbo oil lines from the pan. you should also get a heat sheild to separate your turbo from your coilpack so you dont overheat your ignition system. youll need custom intercooler piping kit (can get kind of expensive getting all the pieces you need.) also need an intercooler that will fit behind your bumper unless you get an aftermarket front bumper. probably should get the following guages for yourself also. oil temp, water temp, oil pressure, boost, air fuel guage. when you start boosting over 9 pounds, you should adjust timing to avoid detonation so maybe also get an adjustable cam gear also. plus the warlbro 255 fuel pump, fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator, fuel rail, the list just goes on and on. trust me. its cheaper to get the kit.
