Intermittent won't start problems
I have been having some wierd things going on. It started off I would be going down the Hwy and and I would lose everything. Instrument panel pegs would all drop (the car would go dead one time about 85 miles and hour about threw me thru the windshield) and I would get pulled over and would have no power at all. No interior lights no radio even keyless remote wouldn't work. Would get out and wiggle battery cables and get back in and all of the sudden had power again, radio was on remote worked interior lights were onand it would start. The radio clock would put itself back to 12:00 as if I disconnected the battery. Went to Autozone and got a negative cable wich had the ground and replaced it and hasn't been doing that but now after about a week get into the car and try to start it and have nothing no click just nothing. But this time I have power because interior lights are coming on and the radio is on but it just won't start. Let it set and come back to it and then it will start. drive all around then all of the sudden won't start again. I consider myself a halfway decent side mechanic but electrical is not my game. I would appreciate any suggestions. Last time I had a problem I came tothis sight and was helped with some wonderful mopar enthussiast that had excellent info.
on first gens the horn relay is the same as the starter. another thing you can do is take the cover off and see if its working correctly
when you trun your key the relay should close in the direction of the arrow, red shows contact points
