Default 2 step?

A couple of my friends have this thing they call a 2 step. I have no clue what it does but MSD makes it. When they are running high RPM's they press this little button and it sounds like a shotgun goes off and a flame comes out of the back. There telling me it helps you launch but like I sad I have no clue what it does. If you have any idea what this does or where you can get one for the neon lemme know. Thanks

OH YEAH!!! great investment. Instead of holding your foot at the right RPM to launch, you press and hold a button that sets the car in a lower rev. limit. Then you can put the pedal to the floor and the Dual stage keeps the RPM's at your desired lower RPMs that you chose. One less thing to think about when you stage. And when the light goes green, you are already at full pedal; just release the button and you have you normal 9000 rpm rev limit, or whatever you have.[sm=gears.gif]

I had a 1979 truck and an 1984 Daytona Turbo, both of which I installed an MSD 6AL with the correct coil. The MSD's work great and really smooth out the engine performance (removing hesitations and provide quick start-ups), I got a bit more mileage out of each vehicle as well.

Unfortunately they were not very reliable and both died within a year. They may have changed their tune since then. Besides the box seen on the e-bay link would not work for our multi-coil distrubutor-less neons. MSD does make systems for distributoless ignition systems. Go to http://www.msdignition.com/ignition_24_6211_6215.htm for a look see.

I would be interested to see if they've changed their reliability factor.

2 step are for people that 1.suck at launching there car 2.cant hold there rpms and look at the tree. 3.high powered drag cars. other than that its cool but i think its a waste of money and the honda guys abused it to death and just makes it look gay on a slow car. but if you want to get that "perfect launch" on your car go for it!
