Need Help
I know that this is a Dodge Neon Forum but I couldnt find a forum to write on about Dodge Spirits, they have basically the same engines right, so I figured that this forum would be the right place to ask to help me figure out the prob... I have a 1992 Dodge Spirit, 2.5L 4Cylender... I recently put a transmission in the car, because the old one went out 2 years ago... I use to start the car alot to keep everything going, well, I went to get another trans so I took mine out and put it in just to find out that the trans I got was also bad. So the car has been sitting without being ran for about 8 months, before it would start and sound like a race car, after letting it sit, it will start and run fine, but code 13 keeps showing up, saying that the map sensor signal isnt changing... I found out that the vaccume line going to it from the throttle body was cracked and was leaking so I replaced it. and i also put in another map sensor (a used one from a 93 Spirit) and it started doing the same thing after a day... I noticed that I can disconnect the battery and the map sensor then reconnect it all again and it will run just fine for a day, then it will start acting up and even stalling out just like it did before. but it always restarts up and code 13 comes right back, even tho for a day it never shows up... what could cause this... i am lost at words... I dont understand how the car ran like a race car until it was parked for 8 months then the MAP sensor would start acting up... now before the trans went out, when the fan kicked on twice at idle the engine would kick down and code 13 was present. but it never stopped the engine and it still ran great... i do believe i need plug wires, could that case it, i dont think it would... and help would be greatly appreciated... thanks
