Reset computer/chechk engine light
I have read that i can easily reset computer by doing this:
1.) Open the hood. Behind the battery and next to the PCM you will see a black relay box.
2.) Open this box by releasing the two plastic tabs.
3.) There should be black relay cubes and some assorted fuses in the box. Among the fuses, there is only one 20A one; pull it out and wait about 30-45 seconds before replacing it.
4.) With the fuse replaced and everything sealed back up, start the engine. The car should sputter and die while the computer "re-learns" everything.
5.) Start the car again: the "check engine" light should be off if this procedure was followed correctly. If it is still on, the problem that tripped the light in the first place is recurring.
But i have 2 X 20A what is the name of the right one ? also is it a right way to reset or just remove the black battery cable do the same ?

my cluster was changed by the dealer in last january. Is it possible they forgot to reset the computer and that's why my fuel gauge doesn't work ?
The easiest way to reset the PCM is to disconnect the nrgative battery terminal for 30 minutes. The gas gauge has nothing to do with reseting the PCM. You most likely need to resolder the connections on the back of the cluster.
If its just the fuel gauge then it could be the sender in the tank, but I believe that the pump and sender are all together. You have to drop the tank to get at the pump. The cluster fix will be a lot easier and cheaper to try 1st.

I did the reset by removing the negative cable for 45 minutes and reconnect it. But i noticed nothing special ! is it suppose to be like that ?
I took a look at the defective cluster the guy gave me when i bought the car and yes with magnifier i can see crack on the connector solder. Now i have remade all and probably try it today.

You know sometime you do a reset and something start working. Maybe it clear codes and was a good thing for the PCM. Probably expecting to much from this reset. Anyway done now. Thank's.
Oh by the way, yes the edit button is very useful

Yeah it is a good thing to reset the pcm every once and a while. It does clear all the info in the PCM and makes it learn again. THings do change with the motor, driving habits and weather.
