New headlights, LAws, and HIDs?
ok, so when i was working on my car friday, I was under the hood poking around, and i discovered that both head lamp housings were only being held on by one bolt each, i touched the passenger side and the thing had massive movement.
out of common sense, I figured this probably isn't safe. So it gave me an excuse to start looking for new headlights.
I've been cruising E-bay and a lot of the nice looking lamps i see are HID lamps.
I tried finding laws for the state of Indiana about HIDs, like illegal or not, requirements to make them legal, so on so forth.
I came up with several results.
in some form they were as follows.
HID conversions ARE illegal in most states, but cops dont get off their butts to check.
HIDS have to be OEM and DOT certified, and that there makes them " legal"
and then there was this little bit about having headlamp washers....liek a VW gold gti or a bmw O.o
then i read on and people just said to lower the angle of attack on the lights so they don't dazzle oncoming drivers too horribly....
So my question is.... Does anyone know a link with headlight laws, for Indiana, or for a site that has any laws?

Any headlamp must have the DOT certification to be "street legal". Some states do add revisions to that law to make them more restrictive.
Indianna's revisions are in this link.
http://www.in.gov/legislative/ic/cod.../ar19/ch6.html
From what I read the HID's are not illegal so long as they are correctly postioned to illuminate the road and "don't dazzle oncoming traffic".
But read it and determine for yourself.
