Default Neon Torque convertor & trany

I have a 2000 dodge neon. A while back I was told by a shop that I had torque converter problems. Now I am having auto trany problems which a shop confirmed so I need a rebuild or swap for the trany.
Is the torque part of the trany or a separate unit? I have found a used trany with 90000 km on it already out of the car. Where can I find instructions for R & R of this trany. I would like top do it myself with my son's help. We both have worked on cars a lot but have never tackled a trany swap. I really need some instructions to make sure I do it right and don't cause permanent damage. Anyone out there with experience in this job? Your knowledge would be appreciated.

Torque converter would come with the trans.

as for replacing, It is a HUGE job and if you are inexperienced, you may want to find someone to help or do the job. you need a lot of good tools like a quality jack, quality jack stands, air impact wrench and so on. also there's an issue of safety. I have had a couple close friends get killed from cars falling on them all caused by not following safety rules for working under a car. as for directions, there's these really cool books called shop manuals, where someone has already written out all the instructions to make sure you do the job right and not cause permanent damage. Maybe do a search for an instructional video.

Are they sure it is a T/C problem, and not a pump problem? <--Were/are there any CEL codes for the transmission (there can be codes without the light on)? I needed a new pump, and every shop I went to wanted me to drop $2,500 off with them for a rebuild. I changed the pump I found on eBay for like $60, and it's been fine since. Everyone just likes to rebuild something whenever there's a problem.
