Unhappy Help with a 2000 Dodge Neon

So, I bought this car about three weeks ago, noticed that the engine light was on, drove the car and it seemed fine beside a slight rough idle. Needed a running car desperately, so I got it. Didn't have any problems with it until I went to fill gas in it. As soon as I pulled away, the car started jerking and making a "backfire" out of the intake. First thought was maybe bad gas, filled up at a walmart gas station, and I've heard how "great" ethenol gas is.. So I stoped at autozone, and got a fuel additive. Didn't make a difference, kept jerking, stuttering etc, noticed the engine light was flashing once in awhile while driving and while it was jerking. So, got home, did the key thing and wrote down the codes which were given, which were: P1684, P0303, P0551, P1685. I then also resetted the check engine light, which might of been a bad idea. Seems like its running worse now, stuttering and jerking more as I try to take off, though once it reaches a higher speed doesn't really have the problem. Also noticed that when the A/c is on, the idle bogs down then goes back up, constantly. Blah, anyway, any ideas on what the problems could be would be much appreicated.
Thanks.

Default help with 2000 neon

your codes are as follows:
P1684.....Battery disconnected within last 50 start cycles
P0303.....#3 cylinder misfire
P0551.....power steering pressure sensor circuit range/performance
p1685.....engine fuel temperature too high

Ok the battery code P1684 is normal since you, prolly disconnected the battery to clear the codes. P0303 is a simple misfire, check the plugs and wires..replace if needed. Use the cheap plugs, champion, AC, NGK vpower. Fancy plugs just don't work well in the neon.
P0551, if the powersteering is functional, the pressure switch is bad or unplugged, or you have a short. Also the power steering pump could be on the way out. you could check or replace the fluid. P1685 I have never heard of and I own a 2000 neon ES. But try this...check that the cooling fan is working and the coolant is full. You could be having a heat soak problem in the engine bay after engine shutdown if the fan is not working. Someone may be able to help you with this here or go over to 2gn.org and ask occasional demons about it. he is one of the best I know to ask about it. tell him g_force58 recommended you talk to him. Good luck.
