Default IAT sensor help

hey guys new to the site, anyways, i hooked up aem cold air intake to my 03 sxt, and i forgot to put the IAT sensor in to the tube, but i already put in the rubber seal, then when i remembered to put the IAT sensor in i noticed that the robber seal was gone, i dunno if got sucked up in the intake or just fell of, most likely sucked up, anyways i notice that i seem to get more hp, when i have the IAT sensor not plugged in, i just hide the sesor in the fuse box and put electrical tape to cover the hole in the tubing, it sounds deeper and seems to have more power, any suggestions? and if that rubber seal did get sucked in the intake, will it hurt my car?

Great...I hope I don't make the same mistake, I'm installing mine tomorrow. Now I'm scared! [&:] I'm not sure what exactly your talking about. Hopefully I'll understand tomorow. Did you follow the directions? Or did it not come with any? I don't want to make the same mistake If I folow those directions...

yeah mine came with directions, its pretty simple installation i just distracted and forgot to place the IAT sensor back in, the toughest part for me was getting that damn resonator box out.
