Automatic shift issue
2003 Dodge neon SXT.
It's been shifting pretty stiff for a few weeks. I went to put it in drive and the shifter broke. The shift cable is intact but the part it connects to broke off. I put on a new shifter and put the car in park by moving the switch on the transmission so I could start it up. I reconnected everything and moved it to drive but it will not shift out of drive. It seems like the shift cable has seized up.
Could there be anything besides a bad shift cable causing this? It looks like it's going to be a pain to replace.
