2005 Dodge Neon Speedometer Not Working
Hello everyone, I drove the Neon around for the first time today and noticed the speedometer is not working. I then googled it and found a diagnostic test to run (which was hold down the trip reset button on the speedometer cluster) and the speedometer hand moved during that test but does not move when I'm driving. Any idea what the issue is? Does it need a new speedometer cable? Also, the mileage stays at 118070 no matter how much I drive. Any help is appreciated.

Just floor it and drive that way from now on. Worst-case scenario, the police can let you know how fast you were going after-the-fact.
LOL j/k. The only thing that comes to mind is to check the VSS to make sure it is functioning properly, or maybe you have a bad cluster in your dash.

The VSS is on the transmission, it is a 2 wire sensor on the driver side of the shift linkage to the trans. #3, output speed sensor.

The signal operation goes from VSS -> PCM -> Body controller -> Cluster.
If the sensor is bad, ur car shouldn't drive/shift right, probablem would probably laying on the Cluster side or the Body controller.
Worst comes to worst, just live without it. Go buy a portable GPS that tells you how fast you are going, so u don't get a ticket.
