Default 95 neon has to start in neutral?

I am looking around for cars right now. Come across a 95 highline, auto. It has command start, and the guy tells me that it wont start in park becuase a command start wire has fallen off or something. Thats what he told me, I didnt know what to make of that.
You can only start the car in Neutral.

Is he telling me the truth or is the transmission acting up and may be headed for the grave yard?

There are switches on the shifter assembly that should be sending a signal to the PCM when the car is in Park or Neutral. It's very possible that one of the wires has fallen off, broken, etc. or the sensor has gone bad. Not a tough part to replace. Not an indication that there's anything wrong with the tranny.

Best of luck!

Ok thank you for the info. If its a sensor, how much do you think it might cost? I live in canada btw.
