Default 2004 Neon pulling to right

My daughter has a 2004 Neon that just had the transmission rebuilt. The car has been down for 18-24 months.

Now that it is finally back usable, we noticed that when driving we get a pull to the right. Let me try to explain this better:

It is not an alignment problem since it will drive straight when there are no hands on the wheel

It is not the brakes as it will stop just fine and straight.

However, when you need to turn the wheel for a curve or a turn, if you turn to the left it steers like it always did (as best as we can remember). If you steer to the right, the wheel turns much easier then it does to the left and the car moves to the right too quickly. It kind of jerks to the right.

What could cause this? Could it be related to having the transmission done or could it be that the rack&pinion needs replacing or something else?

If you have any helpful ideas, Please ...

sounds like a rack seal has gave out and wont hold pressure.

get it in the air and turn from lock to lock and observe rack movement.
Check that one side of rack has not broken away from subframe allowing the rack body to move.
