Coil Busts Open On #2 Cyl.right as car died-WHY?
my 2004 neon died about 1 block from my house on my way home from the store, never have had a bit of trouble with this car since Ive owned it which has been over a year.
The next day when i tried to start it, would not spin over or anything, found a blown fuse under the hood, replaced it and now it spins over, but doesn't want to start, thought it was the timing belt due to the mileage (146,000) and the fact that its never been changed, however the timing was half tooth off on camshaft on top. replaced belt anyways, still half a mark off, put on just like it was and started the car before replacing covers or anything else..it started up, felt a little sluggish-i shut it off, started it about 5 times in a row, then proceeded to finish putting it back together. got it all done, and now it wont start...
I noticed my coil pack had brown stuff that squirted out of #2, so i bought a used one from junk yard, and put it on-still wouldn't start so i started looking at the spark plugs, #1 and #4 were black-not wet though- #2 and #3 looked nice. I replaced #1 and #4 with some used ones i had and again it started up, ran really rough then it died, and when it died the coil i bought had a big crack in #2 and the lead to spark wire was hanging off so it busted open there.
got a different coil pack, new spark plugs, and different wires and still wont start.it would start ONLY when i unplugged the cam sensor... Sounds like it needs to cough... If i work the gas right i can get it to start but it doesnt want to continue running, like the exhaust is plugged, or its only running on 1 cylinder or like it would if it had a cracked distributor cap...
My scan tool only says that the battery has been disconnected during the last 50 starts and low voltage, however the voltage on the battery is just fine. its over 12.
So, im stumped...anyone can you help? any suggestions? Thanks!!
