Default Help please, What year neon?

Mrs.N wants a Neon and keeps coming up with cheapies on C.List. Since we are in N. Pa and rust is prevelant I dont know which way to go. I dont want to spend 6 months rebuilding/repairing Any ideas out there on what years are better overall. I don't believe newer is better although that might be the case.

2gn (2000-2005) IMO. Look up crash test ratings for the '95-'99 and then the '00-'05 and you'll know why I feel that way. 1gn's get better MPG, but probably due to the lack of extra safety features I'd guess. Engines are the same. I'd pay extra for better safety, but to each their own.

THanks for the reply. I agree crash tests are important especially if Mrs N. is going to be aiming , opps driving the thing.
