Receive a code p0340
I have Dodge 2005 SX2 and sometimes I receive a code P0340, I completed around 121,000 on this car. Furthermore, I didnt change my timing belt on my car because my mechanic checked the timing belt and then told me that you dont need to change it yet, In addition, there is a minor leakage from camshaft and one of my friend told me that this code is because of the leakage, could you please tell me that how can I get rid of this code, need your expert advice. Thanks
P0340 is either a bad camshaft position sensor and/or the wiring. If the seal is bad and oil is leaking into/onto the sensor, it could very well damage it. As for the timing belt, since your mechanic is saying all is well even when you are 16,000 miles past the recommended change mileage, ask him if he'll be willing to get you a new complete head and all of the timing components if it breaks and destroys your engine before he says it's time to change it. Not worth the trouble, or gamble, IMO. Then again, I rather spend several hundred dollars on other things...
