I just bought this 1998 Plymouth Expresso DOHC and it smokes really bad out of the exhaust but the spark plugs are clean. we think that it is valve seals on the exhaust valves, but since this is the first neon i have ever owned i figured i'd run it past you guys to confirm this and see if you have experienced a similar problem. thanks

 

the DOHC were known for valve seals. Symptoms: When you start the car it seems to smoke worse, or keeping it in gear while coasting down a hill it may smoke worse. Do a compression and/or leak down test to be sure before you rip it apart.
