i just obtained a Tanabe exhaust tip for my 2000 es. i know that in order to intsall it without buying an entire new exhaust system that the stock exhaust needs to be cut near the back on the driver's side(becuz it curves around the back and out the rear passenger side) and an exhaust extention piece would need to b added on in order for it to b at the level to where the exhaust tip will b below the bumper. wut i need to know, for anyone who knows anything about welding, is wut diameter the extention piece should b in order to connect the 2-1/2' stock exhaust pipe, and the 3' exhaust tip

 

Your local parts store will have the adapter you need. If the tip is a 3" inlet, you just get a 2.5" to 3" adapter. If it's a different size, you get the idea.
