Default What engine fits a 2000 Neon

I have a 2000 Dodge Neon that needs a new engine.

My question is what other neon engines of years will fit my 2000?

I can get a 2005 cheaper than the rest will this engine fit into my 2000?

Niether have EGR's

If you want a bolt-in and go engine, you'll need a 2000 or 2001.

Hypothetically, if I did go wit the 2005 engine what would I need to modify?

I herd that possibly the crank sensor? If so couldn't I just swap that over from the old engine?

I ended up putting a 2001 into my 2000. Everything went in fine. Only problem I had was the new motor had a knock to it even though the rod bearings were new. I was ****tin bullets. I ended up changing the oil to a 20w 50 and the sound went away completely!

I paid a thousand for the car and drove it four years, put a 250 dollar engine in it (Craigslist)and then sold that bitch for $2500 after the swap.

NOTE: I think that you also have to know wether your engine has a EGR valve or not. Even if you use the same year.
