Purpose of EGR Block- Off
I have the new dodge catalog, and looking through this i see an EGR Block-Off kit,,
Now what are the perks of "Blockin off the EGR".?
If theres an upside to this i plan on doing at hom DIY,, to H*ll with buying the kit.

There's no performance increase, if that's what you mean. The EGR system sends some of the exhaust back into theintake to be reburned, which is supposed to help with emissions. It normally only does this during steady-state driving (highway). It reduces the effective chamber volume, which raises volumetric efficiency a tad. So you may see a drop in gas mileage at freeway speeds. I haven't, and most people don't. The biggest reason to block it off is to reduce the amount of goop that gets spread all over your intake components. Ever taken off your TB and cleaned it out? That messy black stuff is all over the inside of your intake manifold, intake ports, and intake valves as well...
Most 2nd gen Neons don't have an EGR system. Maybe California, Massachusetts, and one or two other states. I don't even think the Magnum heads have the ports drilled...
Blocking it off is as easy as installing a coin (whatever fits) on one end of one pipe. Easiest place is probably on the head, nickel does it IIRC. Making your own home kit is easy enough as well if you'd prefer to completely remove the system. I originally had an aluminum manifold and swapped over to plastic, so the plate on that end didn't line up. Hacked up the stock airdam and made my own for free.
If you don't have a Mopar or AFX PCM, you will get a CEL. You can use a resistor (don't recall the specs) to fool the PCM most of the time, but you'll get it again eventually.
Best of luck!
