Unhappy Stressed out over repairs b y macho mechanics please help!

I have an '03 Neon, manual-5 speed. I recently had the clutch replaced. There was a leak coming from the trans-axle seam, so that was serviced also. Now it is difficult to put into gear . It occasionally will slip out of gear and the speed odometer doesn't work and the gas gauge is going crazy. What is going on? Is it just a faulty sensor or are these signs of a sloppy job. The "specialist" at the transmission shop offered to take another look, but I am hesitant. My thinking is that it should have never left the shop with these issues, so I said no thank you. What should I do? Please help!!!!!

Take it back asap! Don't let them charge either as it wasn't adjusted correctly before you picked it up

they are certainly signs of a sloppy job. youre kinda stuck if you already paid them. you can either bring it back and see if they can correct the problems or you can bring it some place else and try and recover your money from the shoddy mechanic the hard way .... court.

check the fluid of course. is it the entire gauge cluster not working or just the speedometer? any lights on the dash illuminated to indicate trouble?

Speedo sensor is possibly not plugged, it plugs into the trans. A clutch job is straight forward job. But a lot of things around it can be bumped and affected. I would be most concerned about the hard shifting and pop outs. I am curious to know if they filled the trans fluid and what type of fluid they used. Hard to shift and pop outs can be related to the shift linkage. It could have slack on a bushing, bad adjustment, or routed incorrectly causing the cables to bind. I am curious as to what seal they changed also. I would take it back to the shop that did the work. I work at a transmission shop and if this was the outcome, we would be forced to make the customer happy and make it right.

but you know that if some hag came in screaming it would "take a little longer" or "cant look at it right away".

the key is to get it fixed THEN scream at everyone
