Is their a way to prevent a headgasket from blowing on a 95-99 neon?

 

First step is to make sure it's the updated multi-layer steel (MLS) gasket. Second is to prevent overheating. Replace the water pump at the recommended intervals (<100k miles). The head gasket issue on the Neons was no more prevelant than any other cast iron block/aluminum head combo, just mmor publicized and handled very poorly by Chrysler Customer "Service".
