P0172 P0456 Trouble Codes 2000 Neon
Hi,
This isn't a "Help me" but what I did to fix it.
My son has a 2000 Neon 170,000 miles. Check engine light comes on. Run great, but light is on. This kind of thing bothers him.
The P0172 basicly says its running too rich.
The P0456 says there is a small leak in the EVAP system.
Check engine light comes on and it has two codes. Are they related? This is what I found.
Rule one, always do the easy and cheap stuff first.
I looked for vacuum leaks. Found a bad vacuum cap near the air filter area.
I cleaned the MAF sensor. Those letters don't look right. It's the senor on the intake manifold. You need to buy the special cleaner. Drove the car for a few miles, light is out!
I should add I had a '95 neon (not Neon) for over ten years and 218,000 miles. My favoite car. I have a '11 Fiesta 5 speed manual. Quality isn't job one any more at Ford. Has had ten problems so far and about 16 trips to get fixed.
My hobby car is a 1965 Corvair convertible.
