Exclamation Strange, No Crank/ Turn over

I was driving my 99 Neon RT one night, Everything was normal until it unexpectedly shut down all together. There were no lights (Tail, break, signal and hazard included) and gauges froze. The only sign of electronics is the oil light that stays on steadily.

The battery terminals are cleaned and i got the battery tested, although i didn't get the voltage of it they said it was at 80%, i checked all the fuses which are fine.

Still no crank or turnover or any electronics except for the one oil light and frozen rpm/mph gauges. Anyone have any ideas as to what this could be? Much appreciated.

New Developments today when i was out inspecting my car. The whole time the car has been sitting in the drive way, I've kept the battery disconnected to avoid running it down seeing that the oil light was still on.
Well i came inside and it was about 15-20 mins until i remembered i had left the battery connected.

I went down to disconnect it again and i notice the oil light had gone off. so i started toying around with the electronics to see if i can get any kind of signal. I check the auto door locks and they were going up and down i tried the auto mirrors and they were moving around these seemed to be the only things that would work. i put the key into the ignition to see what it would do and the oil light came back on so i cranked it.

The same thing as before, no sound -- nothing. i turned the key to the off position and the oil light went back off but the temp and gas gauge went half way up and the key chime went off (reminding me to remove the key from the ignition.) This was the first i had received any electronic responses since the car powered down during the drive.

So i tried the electronics again, the door locks gave a weak attempt and the horn gave a clicking sound and all this usage made the temp and gas gauges fall down to the resting position.

I waited a few mins and tried the key chain door lock and it would give a weak attempt then it would work. I pressed the lock twice and the car gave a honk. So i tried honking it again and it too was back to working.

I'm starting to think that this has something to do with the battery again, even though it was said to be "good" especially since it was for some reason at 80% charge and not fully charged.

Something is draining the battery. Have you checked for any wiring faults?
