2001 Dodge Neon
I just had a pressure hose fixed that was leaking power steering fluid. When the problem or leak started, the car was making a whining noise. The leak is fixed but the whining noise is still there. When I first took the car in and asked if it could be the power steering pump that was going bad, the mechanic said no. What could it be?

well if the fluid in the power steering reservoir is not at the full mark when hot on the dip stick it will whine, next might be your alternator bearings going out. You can pull the belts of an start it and see if the whine is still there. The bearings are easy to r&r and cost about $5 each compared to a new or remanufactured one from the parts store....
