how are you guys making 17" rims fit on your neons?

how are you guys making 17" rims fit on your neons?
was told and i see 17" wont fit the 2nd gen neons..one guy told me he hammer the bottom of the strut,probley that lump on the spring plate? or is everyone putting on the SRT4 struts?
