I have a 1995 dodge neon and it cut off on me twice while driving. I had to pop the clutch to start it, turning key would not work. I took it to shop and they said only thing they could find was loose grounds. After they tightened them it ran fine for few weeks, now its cut off on me two more times. Once when i was stopped and hit the defrost button because window was fogged. And second time when i just stopped at stop sign. All times my lights were on. So can someone help me so i dont have to spend alot of money for ppl to check it. Also after i started it back battery light was on and when i got somewhere and cut car off all together and cut back on with key it was off. Please help

 

I would test your alternator since you did get a red light. With the engine running you place the voltmeter leads on the proper pos and neg on the battery. You should get close to 14.5VDC. As for the ignition, I had similar problems with it not starting and the ignition key core was worn out.
