Default occasional spit and sputter

I recently bought a used 2002 neon sxt, drove home with no problems. On 3 separate occasions went out started up the car and it spit and sputtered and wouldn't hardly go, then all of a sudden it takes off like it is suppose to. It only last maybe a 1/4 mile ( maybe). All other times cranking and leaving it has had no issues. The engine light is not one. I woulx appreciate any help I can get. Thanks

Just a little follow up.. It seems that the car is a running temp.when this occurs, Like running to the store and cranking back up to go home. I didn't know if this might help.

Did it again today, started up at work drove about 5 miles and stopped at the store. I cut the car off went in picked up a few things, started the car back up put in gear and would hardly go, spitting and sputtering then all of a sudden it was back to normal. Still no error codes. I changed out the plugs and wires , didn't help.
Any ideas or suggestions would help. Would the fuel pump/ filter do this?
Thanks

Default Hmmm

Since you seem to be getting fire I would check fuel. Could be fuel pump, I would also check you air intake control and injectors for clogs or leaks. Good luck

Thanks for the reply. I changed the plugs and wires also finally had a code for the front o2 sensor so changed that also. So for it has not done it since. It still seems to be a little weak( lack of power)
