2005 Neon Computer Problem
Hi everyone,
I have an '05 Neon that I absolutely love but I'm running into a problem getting it to pass Massachusetts inspection. It keeps failing the emissions test because the computer is returning an error when it tries to talk to the state's equipment. It's not the original computer: it was replaced about two years ago with a new computer from Dodge. When it failed inspection this year, I was told to take it to a dealer to have it programmed for my car. Did that, and it's still returning the same errors.
The emissions testing station is reporting that the computer is returning an old protocol, OBD1, when it should be returning OBD2. The dealer is insisting that it was programmed to OBD2 because their equipment isn't compatible with OBD1.
Any idea what could be causing this and how to I go about getting it fixed?
