Default 2000 neon lag

I recently bought a 2000 neon 2.0 automatic. It is really hard to get up to speed. Especially on an incline and once up to speed if I encounter an incline I lose speed. Could this be a compression problem? Any suggestions as to what to check would be appreciated. I already replaced the plugs and wires as I do first thing when I purchase a vehicle. I thought it could possibly be an o2 sensor... What are your thoughts.

What is the code? Check engine light on is your first clue. Don't guess what the problem is. Get the code read and that will tell you the problem.

I will go have code read tomorrow. Another question, above the mileage it says door and shortly after starting it flashes between the mileage or saying fuse. Is that of any importance?

Yes, it is. Do you have an owners manual?
