2005 Dodge SX 2.0 Charging problems
Hello All
I am hoping someone can't point me in the right direction to resolving my problem with my charging circuit(s)
I just bought a used 2005 Dodge SX 2.0 that had an engine swap - the current engine has low kms - the guy that did the work butchered the connections to the alternator - One wire goes to the Auto-Shutdown Relay and the other goes to ground.
I have replaced the alternator with an OEM alt and bought a new battery as well.
From what I have been reading the PCM controls the voltage internally. I have no interest in bypassing it. Also have read that it may be connections to the PCM and or grounding issues?
When I first corrected the issue (or so I thought) whenever I would start the car the voltage would spike and then go back down to normal charging range.
However I started the car today and drove it for a while with a load on i.e. wipers on, heater on and headlights on. The voltage started to go down and the battery was not recharging?
So does anyone have any step-by-step procedures I should try to diagnose the problem and ultimately resolve the issue.
I get the feeling it is the PCM as the charging circuit does not seem to be completing as it should?
Please advise.
Thanks in advance!

Further to this - it seems as though this problem is intermittent - the battery was charging as it should and would return to its fully charged state according to the voltmeter - today it just stopped charging and there was a power drain to the battery.
