my 2001 dodge neon se engine constantly trying to cease but it will cease if its idling but if im still driving it will try to stop but it wont the speedometer goes all the way down and comes back up the check engine light came on and i got 2 codes one of them was 0601 and the other was either 1634 or 1684 i would check the codes again ut the check engine light went off and i cant check the codes ive been having problems with this car constanyl the battery cable burned up and i had to replace that i checked all my fluid levels and everything was good except my oil level was a little low but im stumped and i dont know whats wrong if anyone can help me id appriciate it

check for engine grounds and frayed wires you said that your battery wire was burnt it may have taken out another wire with it. if i were you i would be looking in to why the wire burned up in the first place. that might be the cause of your problem. other than that you might want to check the idle and have a test done on your alternator. a bad alternator can cause some funky problems.

P0601 is an internal controller failure (specifically, Internal Control Module Memory Check Sum Error).
P1634 isn't a listed code, but could be Ignition Power Circuit Low Voltage.
P1684 is the same as a code 12 (1st gen), battery disconnected within last 50 cycles (not an issue).

Which battery cable burned up? There are several coming off of there... I'd start thinking about replacing the PCM if the P0601 doesn't go away...
