on a dodge the se stands for special edition witch is just a trim package unless the boys at chrysler have added some suspension, but i've owned a few se dodges in the past and they were all just trim

Its just a trim package, and Neons are very quick stock, even the newer automatics, the older Auto Trans. Neons only had a 3 Speed Tranny while your year has a 4 speed. But the Manuals are still very much quicker than the AUTO. Welcom to the world of Neons and Dodge Forum.

The SE/LE is the "base" model - comparable to the 1st gen Highline model in standard features. It has an optional "sport" package which adds 16" alloys, slightly stiffer suspension, rear sway, tach, ABS, fog lights, and the rear wing. Most of those were available as individual options as well. If everyone in your household is over 25, insurance shouldn't run more than $50 per month with all the required stuff and a $250 deductible. Insurance companies don't base their rates on badging (which may or may not be accurate), they base them on the VIN. Your VIN should start with 1B3ES26C or 1P3ES26C. If the 6th digit is a 4 in stead of a 2, it'll show up as a "Sport" model, which only includes the ACR and R/T (and the 8th digit should be an "f"...). If the 6th digit is a 5 instead of a 2, it'll show up as an SXT, which shouldn't make any difference on insurance...

Best of luck!
