I have a 2003 Neon SXT that will not go into gear, can anyone assist with this problem?

Is the cable attached at the transmission or pop off? Or you talking about put it in drive and and does nothing? Have a neon had a automatic transmission just failed one day driving no slipping without warning replaced the whole setup from automatic to manual from another neon got from a upull it yard. Fixed the automatic transmission issue. LOL =) Could of been the torque converter went out on the automatic dropped pan and nothing indicate clutches were bad or metal parts, changed out the solenoid pack on it still didn't do anything, didn't go to in depth with the automatic wanted a manual and got it. If manual transmission Dorman Products carries a kit to replace bushings on shifter think even have bushings for automatic too can be found at a autoparts store.
