Default battery not charging, voltage regulator ??

ok got the neons head back on, started the car up and the alternater was not charging. I replaced it and the thing still wont charge. The battery is good, terminals are clean ect. After reading a bit in the Chiltons manual and the alternater trouble shooting paper it seems that the only culprit is now the voltage regulator. Is this built into the ECU and would this require replacing the ECU entirely or just one component, or could it be another problem entirely?

It is built into the PCM and you'd have to replace the entire PCM. It's exceptionally rare that the voltage regulator goes out on that though. Before replacing the PCM, I'd take the alternator and battery back into Autozone for testing... Triple check all the connections on the alternator as well for cleanliness/tightness, etc. Salvage yard PCM's shouldn't be all that expensive any more, and there are always other sources for those...

Best of luck!
