Default Lowering??

I was reading on neons.org that lowering the neon could actually hurt the performance of the car but damn, that rear fender gap just kinda sucks, and I wanted to know if there are any lowering springs other than a coil over kit that would lower a 98 neon and not mess up the handling.

Oh and on another note does swapping a MTX TB out for a ATX TB make any notable difference when coupled with a cold air intake?

Thx.

It can only hurt performance when done incorrectly. The Neon's have a very limited range of suspension travel, so spring rate is very important. Here is a link for you to click on that will give you a great deal of insight as to the who, what, why, where, when and how's of it all.

I don't know who's saying that, but I'd agree w/ RR that they're wrong. I just went with the standard eibach sportline setup on mine w/ kyb struts and it improved the handling immensely over stock, plus did a fine job of removing the gap that you're talking about, which I agree is excessive.

Yeah, that's one of the things I was going to take care of on my R/T, but along came the SRT-4 so it's someone elses responsibility now.[sm=smiley16.gif]

I just wanted to answer your question about the ATX TB. I switched out the MTX TB on mine for the ATX and the difference was imediately noticable, definitely worth doing. Also, if you're looking to get the Eibach Sportline springs, I saw a set on Ebay for about $40 the other day, it's something I plan on doing someday, but don't got the time or money right now

On that link you posted SCC said that they used 600front 700rear lb/in springs. Would just a set of those sportlines work fine? I'm only going to be driving on the highway no track use or anything and I just want to get rid of the fender gap. I was thinking about ordering some of those Sportlines from summit.

Thanks.

As long as you will NEVER be pushing the car hard through the curves, turns and twisties, then those will be fine. As I'm sure you have read, they only go that stiff due to the limited travel and when pushed hard, being lowered, they can bottom out against the bump stops causing it to spin out of control.
