where can i find an acr tranny
www.car-parts.com is an online salvage yard database. It may not be much help though...
There were 2 different 3.94 final drive trannies. The Performance "A" was found in the R/T's and all ACR's. The Performance "B" (taller 5th gear) was on all 5-speed DOHC's that weren't R/T's or ACR's. Problem is, very few of the yards list any details about what car it came out of, if they ever knew... The only real way to know for sure is to compare the part number (stamped on the information plate on the tranny) with a cross-reference (http://www.neon-owners.org/neon/tech...cross_ref.html should work, but a google search for "neon transaxle cross-reference will bring up similar options). Also remember that the 2nd gen 5-speeds in the ACR's and R/T's were also the 3.94 final drive, with slightly different gearing for 1st, 2nd, and 4th. They share the same gearbox, but the bellhousing is set up for a hydraulic clutch, so you'd want to use the bellhousing from a 1st gen (or figure out how to swap over the hydraulic clutch setup completely...). Anywho...
You could call, email, or stop by local salvage yards that have Neon trannies, and ask for the part number from the info plate, and compare. I ended up with the Perf. "B" quite by accident, didn't realize it until trying to set my speedo using a tach after installing a gauge face...
Best of luck!
