Default New Neon Owner Hopefully

I am making an offer on a 2001 Neon tonight. I hear some clicking that sounds like a bad CV Joint. Can anyone give me an idea what the cost is to have a dealer replace the CV Joints in a Neon? I know prices very across the nation, however I am just trying to figure out if this is a just a fews dollars or like a $1k to fix.

Thanks,
Rob

Need to figure out if it's the CV joint, the bearing, or some other problem first. No one is going to replace a CV joint, it's too much work. They'll replace the axle instead. Count on at least $500 for an axle replacement. At least $350 for a bearing replacement. You can do either job yourself for a lot less money. Axles are available in salvage yards for under $50, you just have to buy new tranny fluid (and maybe a new axle seal). Spindle assemblies (easier than replacing the bearing) run about the same. If you decide to go that route, there are plenty of us here that have done both jobs numerous times and can help walk you through it.

Best of luck!
