Question I tried removing the bolt on the cv shaft in the hub and i had a brand new breaker bar and it broke.... any ideas on how to remove the nut?
I wedge a bar between 2 lug studs and the ground and put an impact wrench on the nut, comes right off.

could also put the spare tire on there, bolt it on and then set the car on the ground...then use a breaker bar or impact...it will use the weight of the car to hold it still...and the spare works good because of the hole in the middle for the big nut...unless you have hubcaps, then just take off the hubcap and set it down

Most of the time in a shop it is just an impact and off they come. But properly done is just unbolt it on the ground and then get down to buisness. Oh yeah Torque it on the ground with a Torque wrench if it is for you to properly preload the hub bearings.

It must never rust where you are at then if you think a normal impact can take most of them off....better have a 3/4....We live in the midwest north and have to damn near stand on every breaker bar/cheater bar combo just to get most of them to move for every CV I've done....

After 4 winters in new England, my Autozone breaker bar with the tire on the ground (as directed by the FSM) was all it took... twice... Same thing a year later after moving to New Mexico (clutch replacement). Impact wrenches don't sit well with me... I wouldn't take a hammer to my differential...

Definitely pry out of the trans. Do not pull. Do not pull. Do not pull. Those tripod joints are touchy...

and try not to wedge anything between the lug nuts because you can bend the studs

Live in Chicagoland Suburbs and get salted each snow and yet they come off. Oh yeah we consider a Ingersol Rand Ti 1/2 a normal gun. Used lesser and had no problem either. Oh well.

Never had problem w/ the Neon CV but my altima, Caravan, Sentra, and Honda had to take the Cheater Bar....Not that it cant be hard. My neon is garaged winters.

The altima broke 3 Breakers....Took a BFB for that to break free....and the Alty was a Michigan Car.

Ya it worked out fine, i live in maine so it was a little rusty and my friends impact gun couldnt take it off so we took a 1 1/4 socket and welded it to a 5ft piece of square steel and it works great lol. ill post a pic of the bar when i get a chance.....

I never had a problem with it, I have replaced my clutch a few times and a good piece of flat stock never bent or ruined my studs.
