i still have factory muffler on my car and i was saving up to get a flowmaster exhaust system on my car. but today i was offered a pilot muffler for cheap (brand new).
wondering what i should do? what are the advantages of getting the whole exhaust system over just the muffler?

 

If you get a quality exhaust system from a well-known company, it will have been "tuned" to make sure all the parts (size of the pipe, length of the pipe, muffler, resonator, if it has one, etc) all work together for maximum power and gas mileage. With just a muffler, you're just putting a "patch" on a problem....[sm=smiley20.gif]

up untill 99 the neons came stock with 2.25 inch mandrel bent pipes from the factory, the only huge restriction is the Cat and the muffler

Just get the Flowmaster muffler, the exhaust is already optimally sized from the factory as well as being mandrel bent. A good high flow cat and a header is all you need to do to improve the exhaust flow on your Neon. Even the SRT-4 has 2.25" exhaust, just like your Neon.[sm=smiley20.gif]
