Default rubber oil drain plug

Anyone have any experience using a rubber oil drain plug? I had to put one on the other day after my pan stripped out on my 99 neon. I used the kind that has a wingnut on the end of bolt and a big rubber plug at the end. Just wondering how long this will last me until I can either re-tap the pan or buy a new pan.

Thanks.

I would replace the pan. I am sure they work, but I would not trust a rubber plug.

Have seen them they work in a pinch but just get a pad not that expensive and with some regular hand tools and front end on jack stands you can change it yourself. Not that hard.

Thanks for the responses. Just purchased this pan today http://www.1aauto.com/1A/OilPan/Dodg...crn=&ovtac=CMP

Hope the rubber plug holds up until it gets here.
