Default adjustable lowering springs?

I just bought a set of adjustable lowering springs off of ebay for my wife's 96 Neon. When I got home my 19 year old kid had a fit and told me they would destroy the struts. Now, my wife is only doing easy highway driving and I'm just looking to drop it an inch to improve the looks. She'll never push it hard. Do I sell them or put them on?

I don't know on the adjustables, but I know the lowering springs will wear your struts out faster. But since you're only planning on lowering it an inch it probably won't wear on them any faster than normal.

SO if you lower the springs, isn't there struts out there that are shorter that are made for lowering?. Like when I had a truck, when i was looking into lowering, the shocks were designed for lowering. I imagine that would be the same for struts.

There aren't for neons. They have very short strut travel unlike most trucks. Most of the Neon guys I know use the Mopar springs, but that is more for auto-X than normal street driving. One of the biggest problems with lowering springs is when the car is lowered the spring rate must be increased. This is to compensate for the shorter travel the struts will have, but most companies don't increase the rate enough. That is when accelerated strut wear shows.

Like how bad is the wear? I was looking at doing that... But I dont race or anything. Would I have to worry about it?
