Okay, right now I'm in the Market for a Dodge Neon. N i've got about $10,000 saved up for one. I've been looking into the SRT-4's seeing as it's got a 2.4l Engine, but they're a little out of my price range. So right now I've been looking more into the SE and the SXT's. I just want to know which year and which model of these two will be the best and easiest to upgrade for better preformance, and also how much power I could really get out of it with the right upgrades.

 

check out ebay for an srt4...they go cheap sumtimes

 

Already tried, nothing in my area, I need something I can go see and test-drive. The closest one is 315 miles away in Utah.

 

From what I understand, you'll want a 01 or 02 Neon. The 03's and newer have a ECM that doesn't take well to engine upgrades.

But you'll have a hard time spending $10,000 on an 01 or 02 unless it's got very low mileage or someone has already put a bunch of money into it.

 

Could I Replace or Reprogram the ECM on a newer model? N if so how much would I be looking at?

 

No you cant reprogram the 03-05...you should be able to find a 2003 SRT-4 for $12k and it still have decently low miles. Another route you could do is buy a regular Neon and either engine swap or turbocharge the 2.0...

 

Why not use the $10,000 as a down payment and finance the rest for an SRT-4? Keep checking eBay, there are bound to be some up close to Colorado soon.

Besides that one in Utah looks nice!!!! Can you say road trip????? I drove 4 hours to get my 97 neon and loved driving it back home...great experience!
