Ok so there are 4 mufflers made for the neon borla, pacesetter, vibrant, and yadayada the dual outlet one. What I want to know is if anyone has put one of the universal canisters on there 1st generation neon and what they had to do i.e. hangers pipeing and whatnot? Im trying to keep the total cost of muffler/install under 200 bucks. All I want to do is put a muffler on, no catback or anything just a muffler.

Have gone to a muffler shop at all? I'm not sure on how much my Dad paid for his muff. but it sounds pretty damn good, it's a Magnaflow 14" 2.5 in and 2.5 out. but there is a 18" one that has the dual outlet like what the cameros and Neon R/Ts have. That'll probably be your best bet is to go to a muffler shop.
My Dad's probably sounds just as good as my stock exhaust!

 

Well I just ordered Summits Sport Compact muffler 13 3/4'long, 19'overall, 2.25'in 4.75'slant tip, all stainless inside/out with a polished finish, baffle/glasswrap inside design, all for 69.95 + S&H. I'll ither try and weld it on where I work if even possable or just have a muffler shop do it for me. With how short it is I'm betting its going to be a nice sound.

 

I had a noise problem after I had a Magnaflow put on my Neon. It was bad enough that I had to add a resinator so the cops would stay away. Hope you have better luck than me with the cops.
