My Neon has a problem...Please Help.
Hello. I have a 2000 4 door dodge neon with auto-transmission. Apparently, there seems to be a problem with the engine computer. The symptoms are as follows: Whenever I drive at highway speeds for longer than 15 mins, and then turn the engine off, when I attempt to restart the car within 20 mins or less, the engine fails to start. The failure to start is accompanied by a constant clicking noise coming from the engine area, which is alleviated by disconnection of a battery terminal. After reconnecting the battery terminal, the engine will start most of the time. However, sometimes, this "process" needs to be repeated up to 3 times. Occasionally, after the vehicle sits for a prolonged period of time without starting it, it fails to start, but without the clicking noise. I can get it to start by repeating the same battery-disconnect/reconnect drill as stated above.
My question is this: Does anyone know of a quick-fix to this problem? I am a graduate student and I do not have the funds to replace the Engine Computer. any help on this matter would be greatly apprecieated.
