Default 2003 Neon gauge cluster

I recently purchased a 2003 neon SE, with basically no options on it, and decided I would rather have the cluster panel with the tach on it, but wanted to just pick up the stock one that comes with the SXT. So I found one on ebay and taking the advice of a family member who is a dodge mechanic, purchased it assuming it would be a basically "plug and play" solution. Turns out I may have gotten some bad advice seeing as it was the beer in him talking and not his experience. Anyway, my question is, Will this work like I'm hoping? Can I just remove the standard panel, plug this one in, and have everything work right? Also... Is the odometer mileage stored in this panel? It's still covered under a lot of warranty so I don't want to tamper with the odometer at all.

Any advice would be very appreciated.

Thanks

I fairly certain it is plug and play. The mileage that is on the new cluster will be whats on it once you plug it in. It will not be whats on your cluster right now. I had to get a new cluster because my speedometer didn't work and when i took to dealership and had them put in new one it had different mileage on it. So make sure you write down or take picture of what the mileage was and what it is now after the new cluster. So when you sell car you have an accurate record of the mileage.

Well then that brings me to another question. I don't want to mess with keeping track of the mileage or whatever, because this one has really low miles on it and it makes me really happy to see that at least for a little while. But I'm curious... is there anyway to pull the chip or whatever the mileage is stored in from one cluster and put it in the other? or do they have ways to keep you from tampering with it?

I think the mileage is stored on the computer as well. The dealer might be able to flash it onto your new cluster but I don't know for sure. The dealer installed mine but didn't put my mileage on it, so I'm not really sure. I would talk to your dealer about it. They might be able to put your mileage on it.
