Default Turbo/Ignition System/Mods

I just purchased my Neon a couple weeks ago and was looking at the Turbo Kits. I see that there are 3 stages. My question is why are there 3 stages? Do you have to do each stage 1 at a time or can you go right to 3?

Second, what performance gains do you get from an ignition system such as MSD DIS-2 system?

TIA....

I believe the main reason there is different stages for the turbo kits is because some are meant for stock motors and the others are meant for heavily modded engines w/upgraded camshaft, heads, rods, etc (you get the point). So in theory you probably could go for the higher stage but you'd probably need to do some engine work first. I don't think you get that much of a gain from an ignition system (small gain probably).

it all depends on how much you want to spend. The higher the stage the more boost you are going to put into the motor, the more boost the stronger the internal engine componets need to be. Put a stage 3 turbo on a stock motor and the 1st time you hit w.o.t the motor will probally blow. to do a stage 3 correctly you will have to spend about $7000 including the turbo kit. Hahns racecraft and chill factory have the best turbo kits.

OK thanks. Got the turbo down however what exactly is the point of an ignition system if there is no performance gain?

there is a gain. In a stock motor, 1-2 hp, In a moddified, turbo motor it gives more control with timing and spark length.
