ok this might be a dumb question but are there mufflers with there own removeable silencers or do you have to have tips on it also. i am only thinking of your average universal miffler. i want to put one on my neon and my civic but iwant to know what im getting into. from my understanding i can just put on a muffler for the lower sound and if it has a removeable silencer i can make it loud and raspy by taking that out. so if that it true then are tips just for show.

 

A guy across the street from me had a Focus with a muffler with a silencer on it. He could actually adjust it to make it louder or quieter. It was actually real annoying, since that was the only mod he had on the car.

But yes, they do work.
